Tourism

The Amberley Museum is an open air museum which highlights the industrial scene of days gone by. There is also a collection of old buses and a narrow gauge railway.

Transport

Road - Arundel lies on the south coast trunk road, this part being the A27.
Rail - there is a rail link to Brighton in the east and to Portsmouth in the west.


Brief History

A Roman town was developed on the site of the current town and this was later built on by the Saxons. It was referred to in the Domesday Book of 1086 where it had become a thriving port and market town. The castle was built by Roger De Montgomery, Earl of Arundel, in the 11th century.


Famous People

The successive Dukes of Norfolk - their ancestral home is Arundel Castle.
